Despite her closeness to President Rodrigo Duterte, Sharon Cuneta hopes Vice President Leni Robredo will run for president in 2022 and win.
In an Instagram video Tuesday (June 30), Cuneta expressed frustration with the state of the country under Duterte. The Megastar said that while she always tried separating politics from her relationships, the attacks of the President’s supporters against her daughter, Frankie, made her question if decency is still the norm in society.
“I don’t know what’s happened to our country. I hope VP Leni runs for president next time, dahil hindi na rin naman makakatakbo si Tatay next time,” she said, noting the one-term limit for President.
Frankie Pangilinan had been the target of threats online for her vocal stand against rape and victim shaming.
Cuneta described Robredo as “napakadisente (very decent),” and admitted that she campaigned for the Vice President in the 2016 elections.
“Pagkatapos ng term ni Pangulong Duterte, sana talaga manalo si VP Leni kung tumakbo siya. Baka sakaling bumalik ang pagka disente ng karamihan sa atin,” she said.
