Hanap tayo pera! Duterte to purchase transistor radios to aid learning in light of Covid-19

President Rodrigo Duterte plans to purchase radios for poor students in far-flung communities as the education department transitions from face-to-face to blended learning.

Duterte, however, said he will still look for funds to buy transistor radios to assist with student learning during the coronavirus disease pandemic.

“We might buy the radio at 300 maibigay sa lahat ng barangay na maabot ng radio para naman ‘yung mga mahirap may communication sila sa teacher nila. Even without a face there, as long as you are really interested to learn and ito ‘yung mga mahirap, kaawa naman,” the President said in a televised briefing late Monday.

“We will try to come up with something in the next few days. Maybe before the end of the week, I would be able to look for the money. Wala na tayong pera ngayon. I would look for the money to buy transistor radios to be distributed all throughout the country,” he added.

Classes are set to resume on August 24.
