Lito Atienza defends son Kim’s transfer to GMA: ‘Nalubak din’ career niya sa ABS-CBN

Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza said his son, Kim, decided to transfer to GMA Network because his career was badly hit by ABS-CBN’s shutdown.

In an interview on One News’ “The Chiefs” Friday (October 1), Atienza said Kim had an “emotional attachment” to ABS-CBN but felt the need to explore other opportunities.

“Talaga namang nalubak ang ABS. You know that. Nawala ‘yung network nila, nabura ‘yung kanilang giant status. ‘Yung kanyang career path, nalubak din,” he said.

The former Manila mayor said his son had to think about his professional growth a year after the country’s biggest network went off the air due to a lack of franchise.

“After one year, more than one year in fact, palagay ko eh, pwede nang nag-isip isip siya, ‘Where am I going in my present position? Eh meron namang opportunity with the biggest network today? GMA network,’” he said.

Kim left ABS-CBN after nearly two decades of working in the network.

He was known for anchoring the weather segment of TV Patrol.
