Vice President Leni Robredo encouraged members of the LGBTQ+ community to keep on fighting for their advocacies amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In her speech for the celebration of Pride Month Friday (June 26), Robredo acknowledged the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in fighting for equality and diversity. However, she said each member should draw strength from one another to continue the battle.
“Sa ating pagbuo ng isang post-COVID 19 na mundo, huwag sana kayong panghinaan ng loob; makilahok, makiisa, at huwag magsawang rumampa,” she said. “Push lang nang push, mga besh!”
Robredo lauded the LGBTQ+ community for being at the forefront of the fight for equal rights and representation. She said they serve as inspiration to many Filipinos.
“Sa bawat Pride March na inyong inoorganisa, isang teenager ang mas nagiging proud na yakapin kung sino siya. Sa bawat awareness campaign na inyong sinisimulan, isang komunidad ang mas nagiging bukas ang isipan,” the Vice President said.
