Restaurant dine-in service now allowed to reopen in MGCQ areas

By Prince Golez

Dine-in operations for restaurants are now allowed in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), MalacaƱang announced.

In a virtual presser Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said restaurants will be allowed to resume their dine-in services at 50 percent capacity.

But, Roque said that indoor dining won’t still be allowed in GCQ areas.

Under the guidelines on minimum health protocols set by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), customers shall be escorted to assigned table with corresponding number upon entry and will select orders from the menu placed on the table or from the order taker with social distancing.

The DTI also reminded customers and servers to sanitize hands after placing order and/or payment. The department also encouraged the handing of payment to service after confirming orders.

Separate sinks for kitchen staff and dine-in customers are likewise required for hand washing.

Buffets and other self-service stations and play areas will remain closed.
