After showing off its revamped design inside and out, MG is now confirming that its 2021 MG 6 compact fastback is getting a power upgrade as well.
Under its Audi-esque design, the third-generation, as MG officially refers to it, 2021 MG 6 will be powered by a new-generation 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. Dubbed “MegaTech,” this boosts MG’s compact fastback’s outputs to 181 horsepower and 285 Nm of torque. The added power, according to MG is down to a high-pressure direct-injection system and electronically controlled water pump.
Along with the new engine, the MG 6 gets an upgraded 7-speed dual clutch gearbox as well. This wet-type dual clutch is said to offer 97 percent transmission efficiency.
The 2021 MG 6 also adds MG’s very own self-driving technology called MG Pilot 2.0. The system adds a total of 7 radars and 6 cameras giving it automatic forward braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear object detection, and more. It can even drive by itself in stop-and-go traffic situations.
