The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has committed to help the Department of Education (DepEd) produce and broadcast education videos to be used in its blended learning strategy in this time of the coronavirus disease pandemic.
In a statement released on Friday, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said they recommended the creation of 352 Most Essential Learning Competencies video materials each month to ensure that learning remains uninterrupted during this crisis.
The 30-minute to hour-long videos, which will be produced and distributed by the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC-13) and Philippine Broadcasting Services (PBS), will be moderated and taught by DepEd teachers, added Andanar.
“We also recommended [distributing] 12 to 48 videos to different regions to assist the DepEd in our collective transition to the ‘new normal’,” according to him.
The PCOO likewise proposed that IBC-13 and PBS will undertake the production management, post-production, network re-branding, and the distribution of programs to other television and radio stations.
They will also train DepEd teachers as broadcasters/actors, and editors under this project, said Andanar.
“To further optimize the PBS and IBC-13’s frequencies, we are partnering with cable operators nationwide and utilizing the power of the internet, by maximizing our official websites, social media accounts, and YouTube channels, to reach at least 18 million of our public school learners,” he also said.
