The general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila will be extended until August 15, President Rodrigo Duterte announced.
In a prerecorded speech aired Friday morning, Duterte placed the capital region under GCQ starting August 1.
Other areas under GCQ include Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue, and Zamboanga City.
“Para ma-sure din ang purgatoryo ninyo,” the President said. “Itong mga sinabi ko, tiis-tiis muna kayo,” he added.
The rest of the Philippines, according to Duterte, will be under modified GCQ.
As of July 3, the Philippines has recorded a total of 89,374 coronavirus cases with 65,078 recoveries and 1,983 fatalities.
