President Rodrigo Duterte will call for a special session of Congress for the passage of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2, his spokesman said.
In a virtual presser Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the special session will be held before Duterte’s State of the Nation Address.
“Wala pa pong timeline. Ito po kasing first time na narinig ko kay (Finance Secretary Carlos) Dominguez na, more or less, plantsado na (yung magiging laman ng Bayanihan 2 legislation). First time din na kinumpirma nya na hihingi tayo ng special session sa Kongreso,” according to Roque.
“Dahil special session siya it will have to be before SONA dahil kung after SONA regular session na po siya. Antay-antayin lang natin. Ang importateng balita, plantsado na ata,” he said.
The Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, which gave Duterte extra powers to counter the coronavirus disease pandemic, lapsed on June 24.
