IATF: Board exam for doctors to proceed in September

By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang announced on Friday that the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) will push through as scheduled.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, in its meeting held yesterday, approved the holding of the PLE amid concern on the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“The examination, which is Part II of the testing activities for the March 2020 Physician Licensure Examination, is tentatively scheduled on September 20 and 21, 2020,” said Roque, adding that the examination will be held with strict observance of health protocols.

Meanwhile, the IATF approved the participation of the Philippines in the Gavi Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) facility, including the corresponding allocation of funds.

The Task Force likewise ratified the creation of a sub-Technical Working Group to study the possible amendments to the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

The Department of Health will chair this sub-Technical Working Group, with the Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, and the Metro Manila Development Authority as members.
