Malacañang on Friday defended the steps taken by the government to address, prevent and combat the spread of coronavirus disease in the country.
“Gumagana naman po. Dahil kung hindi tayo gumalaw eh milyon-milyon yung nagkasakit ng COVID gaya ng prediksyon ng UP (University of the Philippines),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview over state-run PTV-4.
Roque said the mortality rate in the Philippines remains relatively low.
“Gumagana naman po pa din kasi maliit pa din yung bilang ng mga namamatay sa sakit na ito,” according to him.
Meanwhile, Roque urged people to support “Oplan Kalinga,” the government’s new program to intensify the isolation of patients infected with Covid-19.
“Ang importante ngayon ay mag-cooperate tayo lalung-lalo na dito sa bagong Oplan Kalinga kasi yung talagang mga asymptomatic at mga mild sila yung nagkakalat ng sakit kung wala silang sariling isolation facility, sariling kwarto na may banyo sa kanilang mga tahanan,” he concluded.
