You are no longer our colonial masters.
Malacañang on Thursday called out the United States (U.S.) for interfering with the country’s domestic affairs after at least 45 American lawmakers urged the Philippine government to immediately repeal the recently-signed Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.
In a virtual press conference yesterday, Representative Janice Schakowsky of Illinois called Republic Act No. 11479 that President Rodrigo Duterte signed last July 3 a “new weapon” to suppress dissent and worsen human rights violations in the Philippines.
Roque also reiterated that the country has a functioning justice system.
“Nasa hukuman na po yan. To the congressmen who signed it, we have a working judicial system and we can rely on the judicial system to rule on the constitutionality of the anti-terror law,” he said.
“Wag na kayo manghimasok. Hindi na po namin kayo colonial masters. Independyente bansa na po kami.”
