Respect for privacy: Palace turns down Martin Dino’s ‘shame campaign’ proposal

By Prince Golez

Malacañang has thumbed down the suggestion of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Martin Diño to hold a “shame campaign” against coronavirus (Covid-19) patients who refuse to undergo quarantine in government isolation facilities.

Diño’s proposal, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, is a violation of the right to privacy.

(Jonathan) Malaya, hindi yan ang polisiya ng DILG,” Roque said in a virtual presser aired on state-run PTV-4 Monday.

When asked to comment about the government’s Oplan Kalinga, Diño said in an interview over Radyo Singko on Friday that he wanted shame campaign against patients with confirmed infection who violate quarantine protocols.
