Kris Aquino tried to pair off former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim with her widowed mother, former President Corazon Aquino, but the capital’s “Dirty Harry” never grabbed the chance.
Special Envoy to China Ramon Tulfo revealed the matchmaking attempt between Lim and Cory in his August 13 column for the Manila Times.
Tulfo said Lim became Cory’s “fair-haired boy” after the former, as head of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), helped take ABS-CBN back from rebel soldiers during the 1987 coup attempt against the Aquino administration.
“Many people, including Cory’s daughter Kris Aquino, were trying to pair off Lim, a widower, with the widowed Aquino,” Tulfo said.
However, he said Lim didn’t dare try to court Cory because she’s his boss.
“It’s unthinkable for a subordinate to have intimate relations with a superior,” Tulfo quoted Lim as saying.
Lim passed away on August 8 at the age of 90 due to complications caused by COVID-19.
