Heed the lockdown appeal.
Senator Nancy Binay has called on the government to listen to the plea of the country’s health workers for a timeout in Metro Manila.
The health sector has asked the government to reimpose strictest lockdown in Metro Manila for the next two weeks to contain the rising cases of infections. The doctors and nurses said they were fighting a losing battle as the country’s health system has been overwhelmed.
Binay said she hopes Malacañang will listen to the appeal of the health workers.
“I appeal to Malacanang to stand behind our frontline health workers. Humihingi sila ng saklolo. Pakinggan nyo naman ang hinaing nila,” Binay tweeted.
She also urged the government to find a middle ground to resolve the situation. “Perhaps you can find some middle ground, and explore win-win solutions to address critical concerns,” she said.
President Duterte has reportedly directed the Cabinet to look into the concerns of the medical community. There is no decision yet whether Metro Manila will shift back to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from the general community quarantine (GCQ).
