Dinaan sa paspasan! Lacson disowns Dick’s report on Philhealth mess

Senator Panfilo Lacson distanced himself Tuesday (August 25) from the Senate blue ribbon committee report released by Senator Richard Gordon, which recommended the filing of charges against former Health Secretary Janette Garin, former budget chief Florencio “Butch” Abad Jr., and former PhilHealth president Alexander Padilla.

“Am I missing something? I am a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee. I don’t think I have seen, much less signed the panel’s committee report on PhilHealth,” Lacson tweeted.

“I can only be sure that Senate President Vicente Sotto III is almost ready to route to the senators the report of the Senate Committee of the Whole,” he added, referring to the most recent probe conducted by the Senate on the irregularities within Philhealth.

Gordon, chair of the Blue Ribbon committee, has released a report containing findings of the committee following its investigation on Philhealth in August last year.

The committee report recommended the filing of criminal charges Garin, Abad, and Padilla for allegedly diverting the P10.6-billion fund for senior citizen’s Philhealth premiums to supposedly questionable projects.

Gordon questioned the timing of the funds’ release in December 2015, months before the May 2016 national elections.
