Palace respects PNP order to probe RevGov proponents

By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang on Wednesday said it respects the decision of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate the people behind calls for revolutionary government.

In a statement, PNP Chief Archie Francisco Gamboa said he has ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to investigate the individuals behind it and determine “if there is any basis to file criminal charges” against them.

“That is the discretion of police authorities and we respect that,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview with CNN Philippines.

“In fact, whether or not it’s inciting to sedition or not is really the realm of the police and prosecutors at the DOJ. But, from what I’ve seen, there’s no clear and present danger,” added Roque.

Last August 22, hundreds of pro-Duterte supporters assembled at the Clark Freeport calling for the establishment of a revolutionary government that would make the shift to federalism faster.
