Duterte calls for Cabinet meeting to discuss concerns of health workers

President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to meet today with his key Cabinet members to discuss the concerns of the medical frontliners, Malacañang said Sunday.

“The President will meet today with key cabinet members today to discuss yesterday’s letter from the frontliners,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

On Saturday, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea convened a meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases to tackle the recommendation of health workers to place Metro Manila under an enhanced community quarantine to effectively fight the coronavirus disease and ensure their safety.

The capital region is under the general community quarantine until August 15.

Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Health Secretary Francisco Duque, Interior Secreatry Eduardo Ano, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Michael Ong, and Presidential Assistant for Foreign Affairs Robert Borje attended the meeting.

Also present were National Task Force (NTF) Chief Implementer Charlie Galvez, Deputy Chief Implementer of the NTF Vince Dizon, One Hospital Incident Command Chief Leopoldo Vega, Senate Health Committee chairman Christopher Lawrence Go and Roque.

“This is to address the concerns of the medical community. Recommendations from the aforesaid meeting will be also be submitted tonight for the President’s review,” the spokesman said
