Government relies on ‘Recharge PH’ to mitigate Covid-19 impact

By Prince Golez

Malacañang believes the government’s action towards recovery dubbed as the “Recharge PH” program would assist Filipinos who are badly affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque issued the comment, in response to the July 3 to 6 survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showing that 36 percent of adult Filipinos expert their quality of life to worsen in the next 12 months.

While he admitted that the SWS survey result “concerns the Administration,” Roque said the economic managers have prepared a “whole-of-society program” that aims at mitigating the social and economic impacts of the lockdowns adopted to slow the spread of the virus.

“The Palace acknowledges that the Covid-19 pandemic and the quarantine restrictions have adversely affected the socioeconomic conditions of our people for the respondents of the survey to have this opinion,” the Palace official said.

Roque noted that the “Ingat Buhay Para Sa Hanapbuhay” campaign is the current direction with the gradual opening of industries.

According to him, the resumption of our Build, Build, Build program and the build-up of the country’s health system capacity and rapid digital transformation in the new normal would help the country quickly recover from the pandemic.

“We hope to revitalize the economy and stimulate growth for the betterment of the lives of our people,” he concluded.
