Group eyes Robredo to head ‘rev gov’: Kung ayaw ni Duterte, si Leni na lang!

The group of administration supporters pushing for the establishment of a revolutionary government is now looking at Vice President Leni Robredo to head it after being rejected by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) wants Duterte to head the revolutionary government under a new federal Constitution until December next year. The President, however, has denied any ties to the group.

“If he refuses, we have a successional system under our Constitution,” MRRD-NECC spokesman Francisco Arlene Buan said in an interview on Cignal TV’s “One News” Thursday (August 27).

Asked if he was referring to Robredo, Buan said: “If our group will so decide, siguro yes.”

Buan, however, said their group will continue convincing Duterte to head the revolutionary government because they don’t believe in Robredo. He said the MRRD-NECC will launch a nationwide signature campaign to prove there’s widespread support for their call.

“Once we have that [signatures], we will march to Malacanang, Mendiola and urge the President to lead and head this revolutionary government. Kung dapat kaming lumuhod sa kanya, luluhod kami,” Buan said.

Robredo has slammed calls for a revolutionary government, calling it “nonsense” and “illegal.”
