Hanggang saan aabot ang P100K? PCSO GM files raps vs man over bribery try

MANILA – Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Royina Garma has filed charges against a civil engineer who tried to bribe her, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Thursday.

In a press statement, NCRPO Chief, Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, said the suspect Ryan Patrick Nepomuceno, 44, a resident of San Pedro, Laguna, is facing charges of corruption and falsification of public documents before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office.

Initial investigation showed that Nepomuceno appeared on the 10th Floor of the PCSO main office on Tuesday and told employees that he had an appointment with Garma.

Garma said the suspect entered her office and passed a document to her and a paper bag containing cash worth PHP100,000.

He then asked her to sign the document purportedly addressed to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno.

Garma, a retired cop, said she immediately sought the assistance of other employees in reporting the incident to police officers who immediately responded and arrested him.

Further investigation showed that the document was questionable since it was not executed by the PCSO.

“No amount of money can buy the integrity that police officers, particularly, Col. Garma upholds. We are glad that (the) Mandaluyong Police responded hastily to apprehend the suspect. The public can be assured that we will not allow criminals to take advantage of anyone to include public officials for their personal greed,” Sinas said.

The suspect was detained at the Mandaluyong City Police station. (PNA)
