President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the resignation of PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales, Malacañang said Thursday.
Morales submitted his irrevocable resignation to the Office of the President Wednesday, citing health concerns.
“Tinanggap na po ang resignation ni General Morales,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said, adding that Duterte has not yet selected a replacement for the resigned top PhilHealth official.
The President, according to Roque, hoped that Morales’ resignation will lead to his recovery from his current ailment.
“The President has always been of the opinion that health should come first. Kinakailangan magpagaling po si General Morales at ang sa tingin ni Presidente makakabuti naman sa kaniya ang desisyon na mag-resign na muna ng makapag-concentrate siya sa kaniyang kalusugan,” he added.
