Palace mum on ‘terrorist’ Sison’s remarks on Duterte health

By Prince Golez

Malacañang on Thursday declined to comment on the Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria Sison’s latest statement on the health condition of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Hindi ko po kinukomentuhan ang mga salita ng terorista,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during his virtual presser.

In a post on Facebook yesterday, Sison cited an “expert opinion” from a doctor who knows the present medical issue of Duterte.

“Duterte himself has publicly admitted that his Barrett’s esophagus has worsened and is ‘close’ to esophageal cancer stage 1. Upon reaching this stage, the cancer cells in his esophagus spread rapidly to all vital organs and kill him within a few months,” the post read.

“He needs a major surgery, an esophagectomy, which is too risky because of his advanced age and other major illnesses. Without the surgery, however, he has only some six months to live. In view of the foregoing, he must get the surgery if he wants to live. But he must resign to undergo the surgery and have some years to recover,” it further stated.

Duterte said on Tuesday his doctor had advised him to stop drinking alcohol because his Barrett’s esophagus is nearing stage one cancer.
