Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has come to the defense of President Rodrigo Duterte as critics continue to lambast his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a Facebook post Tuesday (August 4), Arroyo said of Duterte’s critics:”It is easy for them to be a Monday morning quarterback because they are not the ones in charge.”
Duterte has drawn flak for saying he’s waiting for the development of a COVID-19 vaccine before coming up with a roadmap for Philippine economic recovery.
“I could not have uttered a single sentence about roadmap to recovery because the medicine must come first,” the President said in a July 31 televised address.
Duterte also claimed that life will be back to normal by December this year as he expressed hope that the Philippines will be one of the first countries to have supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine China is supposedly making.
