Malacañang on Thursday expressed gratitude to television host Willie Revillame for his P5 million donation that benefitted jeepney drivers who were displaced by the coronavirus disease pandemic.
A total of 3,211 jeepney drivers availed of the cash aid, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
“Muli kaming nagpapasalamat kay Kuya Will sa kanyang busilak na puso at sa malasakit sa ating mga kababayan ngayong pandemiya,” Roque said during his virtual presser.
“Paalala ko rin po kay Kuya Will, sabi mo magbibigay ka pa ng additional P5 million. I am sure 3,000 na namang mga jeepney drivers ang matutuwa niyan kung talagng itutuloy mo ang pangalawang limang milyon,” he also said.
Tens of thousands of jeepney drivers in Metro Manila have lost their jobs following the imposition of lockdown measures to contain the spread of the virus.
