Malacañang on Tuesday downplayed concerns over President Rodrigo Duterte’s droopy eye in his last night’s public address.
“Hindi ko naman napansin kahit anong kakaiba sa mata ni Presidente. Sa tagal ko siyang nakilala ganun naman talaga ang mata niya,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an online public briefing.
“I did not see anything noteworthy. Pinagmamasdan ko rin siya kagabi and he was at his best when talking about the anti-drug campaign. So, hindi ko nakita yun,” added Roque.
Last year, Duterte actually revealed that he has a neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis that causes his eye to droop.
Talking to the Filipino community in Moscow, the 75-year-old chief executive said he got the “nerve malfunction” from his grandfather.
