President Rodrigo Duterte is not backing off of his promise to receive Russia’s coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine, Malacañang clarified.
In a virtual presser Saturday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte will test the Russian vaccine, named “Sputnik V, after clinical trials have concluded.
“Hindi po siya nag-back out kung hindi sinabi lang po ng DOST (Department of Science and Technology) na ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na pupuwede siyang magpaturok ay May 1 ‘no pagkatapos ng third stage o third phase ng clinical trial na gagawin dito sa Maynila at sa Moscow,” Roque explained.
Last August 10, Duterte accepted an offer from Russia to provide the Philippines with Covid-19 coronavirus vaccine once supply becomes available.
The President also said he will take the vaccine in public.
