Interior Secretary Eduardo Año tested positive again for COVID-19, he announced Sunday (August 16).
In a statement, Año said he had himself tested for COVID-19 on August 14 after experiencing flu-like symptoms, such as sore throat and body aches.
“Last night, August 15, I received my test result informing me that I am once again positive for COVID-19. In the meantime, I am being closely monitored by my doctors while I am in isolation,” he said.
Año previously contracted the virus in March. He was asymptomatic back then.
The former military chief said he is making his diagnosis public to inform the persons he had close contact with to go on self-quarantine and check themselves if they have COVID-19 symptoms.
“I also make this announcement to emphasize the severity of the virus, and to encourage everyone to wear a mask, wash their hands frequently, and practice social distancing. By adhering to these guidelines, we can all help keep our loved ones and our community safe,” he added.
