President Rodrigo Duterte asked Senator Christopher Go to “act as if you are with the opposition” when it comes to corruption issues.
During his public address on Monday evening, Duterte said Go, his former top aide, should not hesitate to call out irregularities in his administration.
“Huwag mo akong sabihan na kaibigan tayo, that you were once my… It’s not… It ain’t that way sa atin. Iyong iba. Pero tayo, walang kaibigan-kaibigan basta may mali. Maski pati ako. Kung sa akin siguro, mahiya ka na sabihin mo, but call my attention,” according to the Chief Executive.
“Kung may ano dito masama na tinignan mo, mapahiya ako, give it to another lawmaker. Ibulong mo lang doon na ganito ‘yung sitwasyon. They will open up everything for us,” he said.
“So long as there is no corruption, talagang mas lalong masira tayo kung we tolerate it eh. Iyan ang mahirap. Iyang put*ng in*ng ma-ano kang kawatan. That’s a very hard thing to swallow,” he added.
Duterte also thanked Go for joining his late-night broadcasts with members of the Cabinet and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.
“I must admire you for your industry. Pasalamat kami. Just your presence here is just as good as anybody else’s watching over the — oversight. I encourage oversight committees of projects,” he told the senator.
