President Rodrigo Duterte will “most likely” issue a proclamation extending the country’s state of calamity due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, Malacañang said.
The six-month state of calamity, which Duterte declared on March 16, is only effective until this month.
“Most likely po dahil habang wala pang bakuna sa COVID, habang walang gamot sa COVID, patuloy ang epekto ng pandemya,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during his virtual presser Monday.
Roque did not say, however, when the proclamation can be expected.
“Hindi ko pa alam kung kailan yan. Pero ang sabi ko nga kanina, most likely habang wala pang bakuna, magpapatuloy pa rin po ang state of health emergency dahil wala pa ring lunas sa pandemyang ito,” he concluded.
