‘Mabuhay ang commander-in-chief!’ Robin Padilla supports Duterte’s Facebook rant

President Duterte is furious with Facebook over the takedown of pro-government accounts’ and his foremost celebrity ally is backing him all the way.

Actor Robin Padilla has expressed support for the President following his rant against Facebook. Padilla shared a quote card of the president’s statement about Facebook and hailed him as the country’s commander-in-chief.

“Mabuhay ang Commander in chief!” Padilla wrote on Instagram.

“The president of the Philippines is both head of state and head of government, and is mandated by Article VII, Section 18 of the 1987 Constitution to be commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces,” he said.

President Duterte earlier questioned Facebook’s presence in the Philippines after it removed pages in support of the administration. Duterte said he was allowing Facebook operations in the country in the hopes the social media firm co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg would help his government. He also proposed to talk to Facebook so it can explain its purpose in the country.
