The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) remains firm in its decision to keep church gatherings in general community quarantine areas (GCQ) at 10 percent, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Saturday (Oct. 3).
Guevarra, a member of the IATF, stressed this amid continued calls from the Catholic Church to raise the capacity
“For now the IATF sticks to the existing rules on mass gatherings including public religious worship in GCQ areas until the latter get reclassified to MGCQ (modified GCQ),” he said.
Recently, Quiapo Church parochial vicar Fr. Douglas Badong prodded the IATF to increase the allowable capacity at churches in GCQ areas.
The call was made following the appearance of churchgoers at the Quiapo Church last Friday (Oct. 2).
