Duterte asks AFP, NDRRMC to ensure response to areas hit by ‘Rolly’

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to provide disaster response in areas affected by typhoon “Rolly.”

“Inatasan po ng ating Presidente ang Hukbung Sandatahan atsaka ang NDRRMC na gumawa ng mga hakbang para po sa mga lugar na dadaanan ni bagyong ‘Rolly’,” Duterte’s mouthpiece Harry Roque said during a virtual presser Sunday to brief the public of actions being undertaken by various government agencies.

Roque said the Department of Social Welfare and Development has set aside P884 million in stockpiles and standby funds, including 260,164 family food packs.

The Department of Transportation already ordered the closure of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport beginning 10 a.m. of November 1 until 10 a.m of November 2, he added.

“Lahat ng NAIA terminals ay mananatiling sarado sa loob ng 24 oras kaya umaapela kami sa mga pasahero, huwag na pong pumunta sa mga airport.”

According to the Palace official, all passengers with scheduled flights to and from Clark International Airport from November 1 to 2 must coordinate with their airlines.

Meanwhile, Roque noted that the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) advised shipowners to monitor and comply with the weather announcements from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

“Para maiwasan ang untoward maritime incidents, inatasan ng MARINA ang lahat ng shipowners na sumunod sa mga advisories na inissue na may kinalaman sa ‘no sail’ policy,” he added.

Operations of MRT-3, LRT-1, LRT-2, PNR are also temporarily suspended due to the typhoon.
