‘Quinta’ victims assured of government aid

By Prince Golez

Malacañang assured on Monday that assistance will be provided to victims of typhoon “Quinta.”

In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepared P890 million in food packs and standby funds for those affected by the typhoon.

“As of October 25, 2020, ang DSWD po ay mayroon na pong stockpiles kasama na rito ang food packs at standby funds amounting to more than 890 million or P890,596,116.79. That’s 890 million. Ang mga ito ay nasa DSWD Central Office at iba’t ibang field offices ng ahensiya,” according to him.

Roque said quick response teams have also been activated to extend aid to affected areas.

He likewise reminded local government units (LGUs) to observe health protocols during relief operations.

“Kinakailangan ding mag-obserba ng Covid-19 (coronavirus) mitigation measures sa pamamahagi ng mga relief goods at management ng evacuation centers. Bawal pa rin ang mass gatherings at inaabisuhan ang LGUs na maglagay ng designated areas na may appropriate safety markings.”
