Duterte may put badly-hit areas under state of calamity – Palace

By Prince Golez

Malacañang is sure that President Rodrigo Duterte will declare severely affected areas under state of calamity.

In a televised briefing Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte has received the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) for the chief executive to declare a state of calamity in entire Luzon in the aftermath of recent typhoons.

“Tinanggap po ng President yung rekomendasyon ng NDRRMMC na ilagay ang buong isla ng Luzon,” according to Roque.

“Pero habang wala pang desisyson ang ating Presidnete, ang inaasahan po natin sigurado naman pong mailalagay sa state of calamity yung mga lugar sa Luzon na talagang naapektuhan ng pagbaha dulot ng sunod sunod na pag-ulan,” he also said.

At least 22 people have been killed from typhoon “Quinta” on October 27.

Typhoon “Rolly,” on one hand, killed at least 25 people after making several landfalls in Southern Luzon early this month.

The death toll on typhoon “Ulysses” has climbed to 67 as of Monday.
