Duterte reminds LGUs, other agencies: Typhoon victim’s well-being a top priority

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte made a renewed call on local government units (LGUs) and concerned agencies to exhaust all resources to ensure the safety and health of those affected by typhoon “Ulysses.”

“I renew my call on all local government units and concerned agencies to ensure that the well-being and safety of our people remain the top priority,” Duterte said in a televised address Thursday.

The Chief Executive assured humanitarian aid such as shelters, relief goods, financial assistance and post-disaster counseling, to affected residents.

“The government will not leave anybody behind. We will get through this crisis. I assure you as one nation kapit po tayo mga kababayan, mag bayanihan po tayong lahat,” he said.

Duterte also conducted an aerial inspection of affected areas yesterday.

Ulysses made landfall Wednesday night in Patnanungan, Quezon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

It brought strong winds and heavy rainfall in Bicol, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Metro Manila.
