Gov’t to test typhoon evacuees for coronavirus, says Palace

By Prince Golez

The government will conduct rapid antigen tests for coronavirus (Covid-19) in evacuation centers, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said tests will be made available to families displaced by the recent typhoons to avert the possible spread of Covid-19 in evacuation centers.

An antigen test is a type of diagnostic test designed for rapid detection of the virus that causes Covid-19.

The tests are cheaper compared to RT-PCR and can provide results in minutes.

RT-PCR, however, is the gold standard for Covid-19 testing.
