The hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo trended on Twitter Thursday amid the threat of typhoon “Ulysses.”
#NasaanAngPangulo also dominated the trending topics on Twitter at the height of typhoon “Rolly”, criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte’s absence from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council briefing.
In a statement released to reporters, Duterte’s mouthpiece said the Chief Executive “is at Malago (Clubhouse, Malacañang Park) attending the online summit of [37th] ASEAN [Summit].”
Duterte had defended his absence from the public eye during the government’s first briefing on its response to Rolly, saying that he visited his parents’ grave in Davao.
He also conducted aerial inspection of typhoon-hit areas and visited Guinobatan in Albay to check on the damages.
