Palace ‘pleased’ with poll saying many Pinoys willing to get Covid-19 vaccines

Malacañang on Friday welcomed the results of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing that more than half of Filipino adults are willing to get the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine if it is available now.

“We are pleased with the results of the SWS National Mobile Phone Survey, conducted last September 17 to 20, 2020, showing 66 percent of adult Filipinos are willing to get the Covid-19 vaccine,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

The poll also said 31 percent of 1,249 adult Filipinos surveyed between September 17 and 20 are unwilling to get the vaccine.

Roque said the latest survey result was a “positive development” as it meant that more Filipinos trust President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to inoculate the entire population.

“We, however, hope there will be a significant increase in the number of Filipinos willing to get the Covid-19 vaccine as [the President] wants all Filipinos to get vaccines, with priority given to the poor, indigents and other vulnerable sectors,” he added.

The Palace had earlier announced that Duterte has agreed to advance supply agreements and make early payments to vaccine manufacturers.
