Palace vows to deliver continuous assistance to typhoon-hit areas

Malacañang assured ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts to help victims of typhoon “Rolly.”

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the executive branch continues to support aid efforts for those affected by the typhoon.

“All hands are indeed on deck as we mobilize our resources to assist those greatly affected by the typhoon. We ask the public to help in any way they can and demonstrate the Filipino bayanihan spirit in this time of need,” added Roque.

The secretary said the Department of Social Welfare and Development reported that more than P18.2-million assistance has been provided in affected areas in Regions NCR, II, III, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Region V Region VIII, and CAR, as of November 4.

The Department of Health provided hygiene kits and collapsible water drinking containers amounting to P540,440 and P402,741 worth of medicine for the allocation of local government units, according to him.

The Department of Energy, he added, mobilized Task Force Kapatid with Region 8 Electric Cooperatives-Task Force Kapatid and Task Force Kapatid Isabela Electric Cooperative 2 to assess the situation and help restore power in the Bicol region and Marinduque.

All airports and seaports are now open, Roque said citing the Department of Transportation.

He also noted that 60 tons of relief goods and supplies aboard the Philippine Coast Guard’s BRP Gabriela Silang are expected to arrive in Virac, Catanduanes today.

As of yesterday, the Department of Public Works and Highways has cleared 26 road sections that were closed due to typhoon.
