Two Bureau of Immigration (BI) have died from the COVID-19 virus this year, said BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval.
Sandoval said during a recent interview on DZBB that the two who died were among the more than 100 BI personnel who tested positive for the virus.
“Sa figures po natin, mahigit 100 na po ang tinamaan ng COVID-19,” she said.
“We’re thankful naman po na karamihan naka-recover,” she added.
Despite this,BI Commissioner Jaime Morente has decided to deploy more personnel at the country’s airports and seaports during the Christmas season.
“While we do not expect a major rise in the number of travelers this holiday season, we’d rather err on the side of caution and beef up our deployment,” he earlier stated.
