Duterte still trusts Duque despite alleged botched Pfizer deal – Palace

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte continues to trust Health Secretary Francisco Duque III despite allegations that he “dropped the ball” in the government’s efforts to procure Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines, according to Malacañang.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the comment after Senator Manny Pacquiao called on Duterte to replace Duque for missing the country’s chance to secure 10 million doses of Pfizer’s vaccine by January.

“All members of the Cabinet serve at the pleasure of the Presidente,” Roque said in a virtual presser Monday.

“Sa ngayon, patuloy pa rin ang pagtiwala ni Presidente kay Secretary Duque. Ang sabi lang niya eh sagutin ang mga paratang ni (Foreign Affairs) Secretary (Teodoro) Locsin (Jr.),” he added.

Duque allegedly failed to submit the necessary paperwork for the Philippines to receive the vaccines as early as January next year.
