Gov’t contact tracing app ‘vital’ in fight against Covid-19 – Nograles

By Prince Golez

Using the StaySafe digital application is “vital” for business establishments, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said, adding it is the only contact tracing platform that is synced with the Department of Health’s Covid Kaya system.

In a virtual presser Wednesday, Nograles noted that more than 40,000 establishments have already adopted the StaySafe.ph’s pandemic mitigation system, including SM, Ayala companies, Jollibee, and McDonald’s, among others.

Its adoption will be a precursor for Safety Seal certifications that local government units will issue to private establishments in the near future, the Palace official said.

Nograles likewise appealed to the public to prevent a post-holiday surge in coronavirus cases by adhering to health and safety guidelines such as the use of the national contact-tracing app.

“Cooperate with tracing efforts of the government and private sector by using the StaySafe PH system that all government agencies and local governments will be mandated to adopt and will also be promoted for use in all private establishments starting this month,” he added.

StaySafe PH app requires individuals to use their smartphone or QR code reader in Viber to scan the QR codes in malls, banks, restaurants, trains, and buses instead of manually filling up contact-tracing sheets.

It can be downloaded for free and does not require mobile prepaid load to function.
