Inaayos bidding, kaso! Duterte tags Pulong’s BFF Eric Yap in corruption

President Rodrigo Duterte has named a close friend of his son, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, as one of the lawmakers allegedly involved in corruption in the implementation of infrastructure projects.

Duterte on Monday (December 28) tagged nine incumbent lawmakers and one former congressman in corruption based on a list provided by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

In a televised speech, Duterte said ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap has been accused of “rigging” bids through his agent.

Reading from the PACC’s list, Duterte said Yap, who’s also the legislative caretaker of Benguet, allegedly exerts influence in choosing the district engineer so he can control the awarding of projects.

The President claimed Yap also intervened in the investigation of a district engineer by calling up PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica to drop the case.

“Alam mo, by just mere calling that simple call can you — can send you to jail. Ano ‘yan eh punishable by Republic Act 3019 Anti-Graft Law,” Duterte remarked.

Despite being a neophyte lawmaker, Yap chairs the powerful House appropriations committee that is in charge of making changes to the proposed national budget.
