Kailangang sabihin or I’d look stupid! Duterte tags 9 lawmakers in corruption but says this ain’t ‘gospel truth’

President Rodrigo Duterte has linked nine incumbent lawmakers to corruption based on a list provided by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

In a speech Monday night (December 28), Duterte named the following lawmakers as allegedly involved in irregularities in the implementation of infrastructure projects in their districts:

– Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez Sato

– Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas

– Isabela Rep. Alyssa Sheena Tan

– Misamis Occidental Rep. Henry Oaminal

– Northern Samar Rep. Paul Daza

– Quezon Rep. Angelina Tan

– ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap

– Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman

Duterte also accused Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat of receiving kickbacks from construction projects, based on PACC’s list.

Before naming the lawmakers, Duterte stressed there’s no solid evidence against them.

“I just want — I just want to assure everybody that ‘yung pagbasa sa pangalan ninyo is not a condemnation or an indictment that you are guilty of something. In the same manner that I would tell the people that do not take it as a gospel truth na totoo talaga ‘to,” he said.

Duterte, however, said he needed to identify the lawmakers in PACC’s list to prove there are no sacred cows in the government’s campaign against corruption.

“Hindi na ‘to ebidensiya na ano sila. Kaya lang lumabas ‘yung mga pangalan nila eh kailangan ko sabihin sa mga tao or else I’d look stupid,” he said.
