The yellows as the first guinea pigs in the vaccination drive?
The opposition should be first in line for the coronavirus vaccines from the government. This is the proposal of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. supposedly to check if the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective to prevent infection.
Locsin made the proposal to counter allegations that politikos and their families might be first inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines.
“No, no, the Yellows are precisely saying that politicians, public officials and their families and friends will get it first. No,” he said.
Locsin had an alternative suggestion involving the politician opposition. He said they should be vaccinated first to determine if there will be side effects.
“Vaccinate or bakunate the opposition first. To answer their criticism. And watch over them for side effects. And see what medicines might work,” he said.
The government reportedly is still in the middle of negotiations for the acquisition plans of the COVID vaccines. Only around 60 million Filipinos will be given the free vaccines as part of the government’s plan.
