Looks like face shields are here to stay, too

Face shields would be mandatory in public spaces even after Christmas holidays, the Department of Health said.

Malacañang earlier announced the government’s coronavirus (Covid-19) task force approved the recommendation to require the use of both face shields and face masks outside homes to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Hindi po tayo nagbibigay ng rekomendasyon na mag-face shield just because it’s a holiday season,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire said in a Laging Handa public briefing Saturday.

“We are recommending this because it adds protection to the individual. So ito po ay magtutuluy-tuloy na magiging protocol na natin, minimum public health standards natin,” she added.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque had said the government will soon issue a “consolidated advisory” on the proper use of face shields in all public spaces.
