Face shields would be mandatory in public spaces even after Christmas holidays, the Department of Health said.
MalacaƱang earlier announced the government’s coronavirus (Covid-19) task force approved the recommendation to require the use of both face shields and face masks outside homes to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“Hindi po tayo nagbibigay ng rekomendasyon na mag-face shield just because it’s a holiday season,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire said in a Laging Handa public briefing Saturday.
“We are recommending this because it adds protection to the individual. So ito po ay magtutuluy-tuloy na magiging protocol na natin, minimum public health standards natin,” she added.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque had said the government will soon issue a “consolidated advisory” on the proper use of face shields in all public spaces.
