Nauna na si mayor? Duterte asks FDA chief: Puwede akong magpabakuna ulit pagdating ng Pfizer?

Has President Rodrigo Duterte been inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine even if the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hasn’t authorized any brand for use in the country yet?

Speculation about Duterte receiving a COVID-19 vaccine swirled after he asked FDA Director General Eric Domingo in a meeting at Malacanang Saturday (December 26) about the possible side effect of receiving two different vaccine brands.

“Ako ang may problema ngayon. For example lang, puwede akong magpabakuna ulit pagdating ng Pfizer mo?” the President asked.

Domingo said it’s difficult to say now what the effects would be of receiving two different vaccine brands since they are just new and use a number of technologies.

“Masyado lang pong bago pa kasi tapos iba-iba po ‘yung platform, iba-ibang teknolohiya na hindi pa po siguro tayo ready na paghalu-haluin,” he said.

Duterte claimed there are several people—including soldiers—which have been inoculated with the vaccine from Sinopharm, a China-based pharmaceutical company.

“Iyon ang… Sumasakit ‘yung ulo ng iba, hindi ako. Halos lahat ng sundalo natusukan na,” he said.

“I have to be frank and I have to tell the truth. I will not foist a lie. Marami nang nagpatusok and lahat. Up to now, wala akong narinig sa — for the select few — not all soldiers, not all soldiers, hindi pa kasi policy eh,” Duterte added.
