Offices, establishments required to adopt StaySafe.ph monitoring app

By Prince Golez

The government’s coronavirus task force has approved the recommendation of the Office of the Cabinet Secretariat to implement the Safety Seal Certification Program in addition to StaySafe.ph.

In a statement Friday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said all establishments, such as government offices, private companies, hotels and business establishments, and public transportation units are required to adopt the Safety Seal.

The task force directed the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Health, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Transportation to issue the necessary joint memorandum circular to detail the requirements to secure a Safety Seal which include the adoption of the Stay Safe application and the generation of its QR Code to be displayed in all entrances.

Roque had earlier said that StaySafe.ph “will be the government’s digital contact tracing application of choice and will be made mandatory for adoption and use in all national government agencies and instrumentalities as well as local government units.”

Private establishments, facilities and offices are encouraged to use the digital platform while those with existing contact tracing applications are enjoined to integrate their systems with the StaySafe.ph system, he added.
