Malacañang disagreed with claims that President Rodrigo Duterte’s disowning of the narco-list following the killing of Los Baños, Laguna Mayor Caesar Perez whose name was included in the list of public officials with alleged links to illegal drugs, was “the height of hypocrisy.”
In a statement Wednesday, Human Rights Watch said Duterte had been using a narco-list to intimidate political opponents. At least five local chief executives on the list were killed.
In a virtual presser Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque echoed Duterte’s statement that the list was not his, but from intelligence sources.
“The President is being candid. The list is from intelligence sources – not from one, but many intelligence sources,” Roque told reporters.
